Roles & Responsibilities
Lead and supervise ICU nursing staff during assigned shifts
Ensure optimal care for critically ill patients, including ventilated and hemodynamically unstable cases
Assign patient loads based on acuity, staffing levels, and nurse competencies
Monitor patient conditions and intervene or escalate clinical concerns as needed
Oversee the use and management of critical care equipment (ventilators, infusion pumps, monitors)
Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care
Manage ICU admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently
Respond to emergencies, including code blue situations, and support resuscitation efforts
Ensure adherence to infection control policies and patient safety standards
Handle patient and family concerns with professionalism and empathy
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and accreditation processes (e.g., JCI)
Mentor and support junior nurses and newly hired ICU staff
